,1_ <br />... ?. <br />? <br />y? <br />CITY UF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 84 - 113 <br />BY: Mr. Ronald Wilamosky <br />AN ORDINANCE REDUCING THE CURRENT AND FUTURE <br />SALARIES OF EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY CONTRIBUTING <br />TO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM <br />"PERS" BY AN AMOUNT EQUAL TO THE EMPLOYEE'S <br />CONTRIBUTION TO "PERS" AND FURTHER DIRECTING <br />THE FINANCE DIRECTOR TO PAY THE REDUCED <br />PROCEEDS INTO THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT <br />FUND AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, this Council has adopted Ordinance No. 84-57 which <br />authorizes the City to pick-up the employee's contribution for <br />"PERS"; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to establish a procedure to <br />implement to provisions of Ordinance N`p. 84-57; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NURTH OLMSTED, COUNTY UF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the following procedure is hereby <br />established to implement the provisions of Ordinance No. 84-57 <br />dealing with the employee contributions to "PERS": <br />The Council shall, consistent with the Charter of the City, <br />establish the salary schedules for all City employees who are <br />contributing to the Public Employees' Retirement System. The <br />Finance Director shall, when issuing employee checks, the salary <br />having already been established by the proper administrative <br />official, establish the amount needed to meet the employee's <br />contribution to "PERS". Said amount shall be deducted from the <br />set salary of the employee;the reduced amount shall be considered <br />to be the gross amount of the employee's salary which shall be <br />reported on the employee's W-2 form issued by the Finance <br />Department in any given year. The employee contribution amount <br />as hereinbefore established shall be paid into "PERS" as the <br />employee's contribution by the Director of Finance along with the <br />contribution of the City. <br />SECTION 2: That nothing contained herein shall be construed <br />as constituting a reduction of salary for elected officials <br />during their term. <br />SECTION 3: That this Ordinance shall be and the same <br />hereby is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the <br />immediate preservation of the public peace, health, saiety and <br />welfare of this City and for the further reason that it is <br />immediately necessary to establish continuity of services for the <br />employees of the City which will more appropriately start January <br />l, 1985, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from <br />immediately after its passage and approval by the Mayor.
