, <br />CITY OF NORTH <br />ORDINANCE N0. <br />PAGE 2 <br />OLMSTED <br />84 -102 <br />PROPOSED CHARTER AMENDMENT <br />A majority affirmative vote is necessary for passage. <br />Shall Article IX of the Charter of the City of North Olmsted <br />be amended by including a new Section 8 entitled "Forfeiture <br />of Office", which Section 8 of Article IX provides that: Any <br />person holding an elective office in the City shall forfeit <br />said office, if, during the term thereof, when there is still <br />more than two (2) years remaining in said office, said person <br />files a Declaration of Candidacy in accordance with Article <br />IX, Section S, of the Charter for another elected office, <br />other than the one said person holds. <br />? NO <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized <br />and directed promptly to forward a certified copy of this <br />ordinance to the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County. <br />SECTION 4: <br />shall cause to <br />election to be <br />amendment to the <br />such election in <br />State of Ohio. <br />That the Board of Elections of Cuyahoga County <br />be duly given an appropriate notice of the <br />held on January 15, 1985, on the foregoing <br />Charter of this City and otherwise provide for <br />the manner provided by the general laws of the <br />SECTION S: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized <br />and directed to cause the full text of such proposed Charter <br />amendment to be published once a week for two consecutive weeks <br />in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of North <br />Olmsted, with the first publication to be made at least fifteen <br />days prior to the election to be held on January 15, 1985, as <br />provided in Article XVIII, Section 9 of the Ohio Constitution and <br />in §731.211 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br />SECTION 6: That there is hereby appropriated from the <br />general fund a sufficient sum of money to pay the costs of <br />carrying out the authorizations and directions of this ordinance. <br />SECTION 7: That this ordinance shall be and the same hereby <br />is declared to be an emergency measure necessary for the <br />immediate preservation of the public peace, health, safety and <br />welfare of this City for the reason that it is necessary that <br />provision be made for said election at the earliest possible <br />moment so that the electors of this City will have the <br />opportunity to vote on said proposed Charter amendment at the <br />January 15, 1985, election; wherefore, this ordinance shall be in <br />full force and effect from and immediately after its passage and
