<br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 85- 93 <br />BY: ? <br />?a'`? 5•g ? <br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE <br />ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED OF AN AMENDMENT TO <br />ARTICLE III, SECTION 2 OF THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED PERMITTING THE MAYOR TO HOLD CERTAIN OTHER <br />ENUMERATED PUBLIC POSITIONS, AS RECOMMENDED BY THE <br />CHARTER REVIEW CONIIMISION AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Review Commission of the City of North Olmsted, <br />appointed pursuant to Article XIV of the Charter of the City of North <br />Olmsted, has filed its report of recommended a.inendmeTlts; to the Charter <br />with this Council. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO, TWO-THIRDS OF ALL MEMBERS <br />CONCURRING: <br />SECTION l: That this Council hereby authorizes and directs the <br />submission to the electors of the City of North Olmsted at the General <br />Election to be held at the usual places of voting in said City on Tuesday, <br />November 5, 1985, the following separate proposal to amend the Charter of <br />the City of North Olmsted: <br />Proposal: That Article III, Section 2 of the Charter relating to <br />Qualifications of the Mayor be amended to permit the Mayor to hold office <br />as Mayor and at the same time hold other public positions which directly <br />relate to his position as Mayor, such amended Section 2 of Article III <br />shall read as follows: <br />ARTICLE III <br />THE MAYOR <br />SEC. 2. QUALIFICATIONS. <br />The Mayor shall have been a qualified elector and a resident of this <br />City for at least two (2) years immediately prior to the date of his <br />election, and shall continue to be a qualified elector and resident therein <br />during his term. He shall not serve on continuous active military service <br />in excess of one (1) month, either state or national, nor shall he hold any <br />other public office or public ernployment, except that of notary public or <br />member of the State Militia, National Guard or Reserve Corps of the United <br />States and other public posts, committees or boards as may be directly <br />related to his position as Mayor. <br />SECTION 2: That if such amendment is approved by a majority of the <br />electors voting thereon at such election, it shall become effective from <br />and after the time of its approval by the electors. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council is hereby authorized and <br />directed to cause a copy of the proposed Charter Amendment to be published <br />in such manner as may be authorized by law.
