with the terms of this r4emorandum and shall include disputes <br />concerning disciplinary actions. When any such grievances <br />arise, the following procedure shall be observed: <br />STEP l: An employee who has a grievance shall <br />re uce it to writing and the grievance shall be <br />presented to the immediate supervisor by his <br />steward, in the presence of the employee, or, <br />in the case of the Waste Water Plant, the super- <br />intendent, within ten (10) calendar days after <br />the employee learned or should have learned of <br />the event upon which the grievance is based. <br />The immediate supervisor or superintendent shall <br />meet with the employee or the employee and the <br />steward within three (3) working days. The <br />supervisor or superintendent shall give an <br />answer in writing to the participants involved <br />in the initial meeting within two (2) working <br />days following the date of the grievance <br />discussion. <br />STEP 2: If the employee's grievance is not <br />satisfactorily settled at Step l, the grievance <br />shall be submitted to the Service Director <br />within five (5) working days after the Step 1 <br />answer. The Service Director and/or his <br />designated representative or representatives <br />shall meet with the Local Union President, the <br />Steward and the Chief Steward or his designee <br />within five (5) working days after the grievance <br />has been filed with the Service Director, and <br />the City's representative shall answer the <br />grievance in writing within four (4) working <br />days following completion of the Step 2 <br />discussions. <br />STEP 3: The Union may appeal the grievance to <br />tiTe Payor or his designated representatives by <br />giving him notice in writing within seven (7) <br />working days following receipt of the Step 2 <br />answer. The Mayor, together with such represen- <br />tatives as the Mayor deems appropriate, shall <br />meet at a mutually agreed satisfactory time with <br />-8- <br />_
