Family of Jobs who has the experience, skill and ability to <br />competently perform the work in question. If two or more <br />employees have substantially eaual skill, ability and experience, <br />then seniority shall govern. If no emnloyee who applies has the <br />necessary skill or ability, the City shall have the authority to <br />hire outside the bargaining unit. <br />47, The Family of Jobs for promotion purposes is as follows: <br />Service Department Laborer "C" promotes to Laborer "B" <br />or Senior Building D4aintenance, and <br />Laborer "B" promotes to Laborer "A". <br />Building Maintenance promotes to <br />Senior BuildinQ Maintenance or to <br />Laborer "A" <br />Mechanic promotes to Lead Mechanic. <br />Laborer "C" promotes to Mechanic <br />Helper, Building P4aintenance or <br />Laborer "B". <br />Mechanic Helper promotes to Mechanic <br />or Laborer "B". <br />Waste Water Department Laborer promotes to Operator. <br />Operator promotes to Zimpro <br />T4aintenance Helper promotes to <br />r7aintenance rtechanic. <br />Systems Laborer promotes to <br />F.a,uipment Operator or Lift Station <br />Attendant. <br />If there are no qualified applicants from the next lower class- <br />ification, the applicants in other classifications will be considered. <br />48. The City will accept applications from bargaining unit <br />employees for lateral and downward transfers, both within and <br />without their present department.
