Maintenance Mechanic, Con't. <br />? Desirable Knowledge, Abilities and Skills <br />Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and <br />materials of the mechanical trades. <br />Knowledge of inechanical principles and of equipment and <br />machinery used in pumping and treatment of wastewater. <br />Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions <br />of the work. <br />Knowledge of the general methods and related electrical, <br />carpentry, and plumbing repairs and skill in making general <br />maintenance repairs. <br />Ability to perform skilled mechanical tasks of a routine nature <br />with considerable independence. <br />Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship <br />with employees and the general public. <br />Ability to work from sketches or blueprints and to understand <br />and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. <br />Skill in the use of bench and hand tools; machines and equipment <br />of the mechanical trades. <br />Mechanical aptitude and good general intelligence. <br />Desirable Experience and Training <br />Experience in mechanical repair work with machinery, equipment, <br />and apparatus related to the area of assignment; graduation <br />from a standard high school or vocational school including <br />or supplemented by approved course work in shop practices or <br />one of the mechanical trades. <br />-52- <br />? .
