<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 85 - 18 <br />BY : <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AND FIXING THE <br />COMPENSATION FOR THE WARD COUNCIL MEMBER OF <br />THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR THE TERM <br />OF OFFICE COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 1986 <br />AND ENDING DECEMBER 31, 1989 AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of North Olmsted, at Article IV, <br />Section 6, requires the Council to fix the compensation for all elected <br />officials at least Thirty (30) days prior to the filing date of nominating <br />petitions for terms beginning on the next succeeding lst day of January;and <br />WHEREAS, the date for filing nominating petitions for elected <br />officials in the City of North Olmsted is April S, 1985; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to establish the <br />compensation for all elected officials in co?npliance with the Charter <br />requirements. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l: That the salary to be paid to Ward Council Members for the <br />term commencing January l, 1986 and ending December 31, 1989 shall be as <br />follows: <br />Effective January 1, 1986 through December 31, 1987 $5,700.00 per year <br />Effective January 1, 1988 through December 31, 1989 $6,200.00 per year <br />SECTION 2: That the compensation as specified in Section 1 hereof is <br />being established only for the purpose of complying with the Charter <br />requirements as outlined in Article IV, section 6, and in no way affect any <br />of the other provisions of any ordinance relating to the organizational <br />charter of either administrative or legislative officers. <br />SECTION 3: That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, <br />safety and welfare, and for the further reason that it is immediately <br />necessary to comply with the requirements of the Charter of the City of <br />North Olmsted regarding the establishment of salaries at least Thirty (30) <br />days prior to the filing of nominating petitions, and further provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: C.t:v04L 6'1, /q'd°S- <br />- <br />ATTEST: <br />FLORENCE E.
