CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 85 - 3 <br />BY. ? <br />AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING WORKING CONDITIONS <br />AND BENEFITS TO BE PAID TO THE EMPLOYEES OF <br />THE NORTH OLMSTED MUNICIPAL BUS LINE, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Council and the Administration wish to update the <br />benefits for the employees of the North Olmsted Municipal Bus <br />Line in order that they be similiar to benefits presently offer- <br />ed to the employees of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit <br />Authority. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: Work Week-Overtime <br />A. The normal work week for regular full time employees <br />of the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line shall be forty (40) <br />hours. Said work week shall commence at 12:01 A.M. Sunday <br />through 12:00 Midnight Saturday. It is recognized that the <br />Plorth Olmsted Municipal Bus Line shall be maintained on a <br />schedule compatible with efficient and practical transit ser- <br />vice seven (7) days a week. Therefore, it is further recog- <br />nized tha.t the North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line retains the <br />right to determine the manner and method of assigning work. <br />It is further recognized that some employees may be assigned <br />to work schedules to accommodate seva? (7) days per week ser- <br />vice which may of necessity involvej?Mrc. Hourly employees <br />will be paid at time and one-half of the straight time rate <br />for all hours in excess of eight (8) hours per day, and also, <br />time and one-half of their straight time rate for all hours <br />worked in excess of forty (40) hours in any one work week. <br />Time and one-half shall not be paid more than once for the <br />same wor!ting time (spread penalty excepted), and any work paid <br />at time and one-half shall not be included in hours upon which <br />weekly overtime is computed. It should also be noted that the <br />North Olmsted Municipal Bus Line shall determine the manner and <br />method of assigning and offering all overtime work which is <br />consistent with efficient transit practices. <br />B. When a bus driver is assigned work on his scheduled <br />day off it is understood that time will be paid at the time and <br />one-half rate with the exception of charter work. The time rate <br />worked in charter service will be paid on a straight time rate <br />and will not be used in computing overtime pay. <br />C. With respect to non-bus driving personnel, in the <br />computation of weekly overtime, recognized holidays shall be <br />considered as time worked to the extent of the normal regular <br />hours called for, except where the holiday coincides with the <br />scheduled day off of the employee. <br />D. All salaried employees may be paid overtime upon re- <br />commendation of department heads and approval of appointing <br />authority, at the time and one-half hourly rate, provided, how- <br />ever, that in no such instance shall daily and weekly overtime <br />be duplicated.
