!
CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
RESOLUTION N0. 86r 2 6
BY THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE COUNCIL
A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF ERNEST J.
GUNDY - BUILDING COMMISSIONER OF THE CITY OF NORTH
OLMSTED
WHEREAS, the members of Council, the Mayor and the Administration of
the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, wish to commend the public service and
dedication of ERNEST J. GUNDY by setting forth his record and
accomplishments over the past 28 years of public office.
ERNIE GUNDY was appointed Building Corunissioner of North
Olmsted by former Mayor Paul J. Gareau. At the tirr?e,
North Olmsted was a srnall rural community with a
population of around 6,000. During the next 10 years
the City experienced "boom town" type building
expansion. ERNIE GUNDY was there to guide us through
that period.
ERNIE GUNDY also served under Mayor Ralph E. Christman
and Robert W. Swietyniowski. Both relied upon his
professional experience and expertise. He was generally
admired by all three administrations.
During his tenure in office ERNIE GUNDY was primarily
responsible for assisting in the establishnent of the
Building Code, the Zoning Code and the Dwelling House
Code. From time to time during his tenure in office he
was responsible for implementing changes in all of these
Codes.
During his many years of Service ERNIE GUNDY attended an
untold number of Planning Commission meetings, Board of
Zoning Appeals meetings, Board of Building Code Appeals
meetings, Council committee neetings and Council
meetings. He was always there, professional in every
respect. He was familiar with all of the codes of the
City. At any given rneeting he had the ability to render
opinions in a moments notice because of his familiarity
with the codes.
1
