<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 86- 8 <br />BY: MAYOR M. YVONNE PETRIGAC <br />A RESOLUTION INDICATING THE DESIRE AND INTENT OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED TO CONTINUE PARTICIPATION WITH <br />GOVERNMENT SURPLUS FOOD DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO CONTRACT FOR SAME AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, hunger in the Midwest, the State of Ohio, and the City of <br />North Olmsted is a continuing problem despite a relatively improving <br />overall economy; and <br />WHEREAS, the problem of hunger especially impacts those families on <br />fixed and/or temporary incomes; and <br />WHEREAS, the federal <br />commodities has mandated b <br />98-92, as amended, has <br />Agriculture, through its <br />commodities and funding <br />Assistance Program; and <br />government in order to disperse of excess food <br />y public law 98-8, as amended, and by public law <br />established the United States Department of <br />Food and Nutrition Service to make Title II <br />available through the Temporary Emergency Food <br />WHEREAS, the State of Ohio by Executive Order 2019 participates in this <br />program and has designated the Ohio Department of Human Services as the <br />state agency responsible for this program; and <br />WHEREAS, Mayor Anthony J. Guinta of the City of Euclid has provided a <br />distribution mechanism for suburban governments by designating the City of <br />Euclid as a regional agent. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she is authorized and directed to <br />enter into a contract with the Suburban Government Surplus Food Consortium <br />and the Ohio State Department of Human Services for distribution of Title <br />II commodities in the City of North Olmsted.
