CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED
ORDINANCE N0. 87-96
BY: RONALD WILAMOSKY
AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING POLICY REGARDING THE
ACCUMULATION OF VACATION LEAVE FOR ALL DEPARTMENTS
WITHIN THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED.
WHEREAS, this Council has been advised that Section 2 of Ordinance No.
83-31 has in the past permitted employees to be paid for accumulated
vacation time; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Council that vacation time is set
aside for the benefit of employees and that it is not a sound management
practice to permit employees to be paid for vacation time instead of taking
the time permitted by the ordinances of the City of North Olmsted; and
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of this Council that a policy should be
established whereby employees may accumulate vacation time from one year to
the next and not be paid for vacation time in lieu of time off.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH
OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO:
SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby establish the following
vacation policy:
Employees shall be permitted to request that vacation leave credit,
earned in the prior year, be accumulated. In no event, shall the employee
be permitted to accumulate vacation leave credit in excess of the vacation
leave credit earned in the prior year.
