ARTICLE 8: PROBATIONARY PERIOD <br />Section 1: New employees shall be considered to be on <br />probation for a period of ninety (90) calendar days. During the <br />probationary period, discharge or suspension by the City shall <br />not be subject to the grievance procedure. <br />Section 2: If an employee is discharged or quits during the <br />probationary period described in Section 1 and is later rehired, <br />he shall be considered as a new employee and subject to the <br />provisions of Section 1. <br />ARTICLE 9: SENIORITY <br />Section 1: Only regular full-time employees of the City <br />shall have seniority. Students, summer employees and part-time <br />employees shall have no seniority rights. Part-time employees <br />are those employees who are regularly scheduled to work twenty <br />(20) hours or less per week. A regular full-time employee is one <br />who is scheduled for forty (40) hours of work per week. <br />Section 2: Seniority shall mean an employee's uninterrupted <br />length of continuous service with the City measured from his last <br />hiring date as a full-time employee.
