CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE N0. 87- 59 <br />BY: <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />TO PURCHASE FOUR POLICE VEHICLES TO BE USED BY THE NORTH <br />OLMSTED POLICE DEPARTMENT ON THE OPEN MARKET, ON AN <br />EMERGENCY BASIS, RATHER THAN BY PUBLIC BIDDING, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, This Council adopted Resolution Number 87-39 on Map 6, 1987, <br />which Resolution authorized the Director of Public Safety to advertise for <br />bids for four new police cars to be used by the Police Department; and <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the advertisement for bids according to the <br />specifications developed by the Safety Director, the City received bids <br />from one responsive bidder; and <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Police has had occasion to investigate the <br />availability of police cars on the open market and has found a source for <br />four police cars that are consistent with the specifications at a cost less <br />than that submitted by the only responsive bidder; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Control met Monday, June 15, 1987, and rejected <br />the bid submitted pursuant to the request for bids and has recommended that <br />the City, because of the emergency situation, purchase the vehicles on the <br />open market; and <br />WHEREAS, it has been determined that the four vehicles can be <br />purchased at a lower price from Marshall Ford, located at 6200 Mayfield <br />Road, Mayfield Heights, Ohio, for an amount of approximately Four Thousand <br />Dollars ($4,000.00) less for all four vehicles than that submitted by the <br />sole bidder; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council is aware that the Police Department is in <br />desperate need of the aforesaid vehicles in order to maintain minimum <br />patrol strength. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and she is hereby authorized and directed <br />to purchase four patrol cars from Marshall Ford in the approximate amount <br />of Fifty Six Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($56,500.00) and to enter into <br />the appropriate agreement for same. <br />1 <br />
