....:_ . _ ,, <br /> <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-140 <br />BY: RON TALLON <br />A RESOLUTION URGING THE DIRECTOR OF THE OHIO DEPARTMENT <br />OF TRANSPORTATION TO TAKE IMMEDIATE STEPS TO ESTABLISH A <br />NEW CENTER LINE FOR THE RELOCATION OF STATE ROUTE 252 <br />WHICH PROPOSED ROADWAY CURRENTLY PROVIDES FOR THE <br />WIDENING AND RELOCATION OF STATE ROUTE 252 IN THE CITY <br />OF WESTLAKE AND NEW CONSTRUCTION WITHIN THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED WHICH PROJECT HAS BEEN THWARTED BY THE <br />REFUSAL OF THE CITY OF WESTLAKE TO SIGN A COOPERATION <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORATION, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted recognizes that there are serious <br />traffic congestion problems in a north/south direction, both in the eastern <br />and western portions of the City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, a portion of the problem dealing with the western end will be <br />resolved in the future by virtue of the consent agreement that the City has <br />entered into with fihe County of Cuyahoga and the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation for the construction of Crocker/Stearns; and <br />WHEREAS, it was anticipated that in the November, 1988, election that <br />the City of Westlake would approve and qrant a consent to the Ohio <br />Department of Transportation for the widening and relocation of State Route <br />252 so that the same could be extended inta the City of North Olmsted by <br />constructing a new roadway which would terminate at Lorain Road where the <br />same intersects with the existing Great Northern Boulevard (State Route <br />252); and <br />WHEREAS, because the City of Westlake has failed to provide its consent <br />for the widening and relocation of that portion of State Route 252 that <br />falls within the City of Westlake, this Council deems it wise and <br />appropriate to urge the Ohio Degartment of Transportation to establish a <br />new centerline, the confiquration of such would have the same fall within <br />the corporate limits of the City of North Olmsted, but at the same time, <br />providing the new four lane extension from within the City south ta Lorain <br />Road where the same intersects with Great Northern Boulevard (State Route <br />252); and <br />WHEREAS, it is the position of this Council and the Adminsitration that <br />it is appropriate at this time to urge the Ohio Department of <br />Transportation to take irrnnediate steps to remedy the existing traffic <br />1
