., , <br />r? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88 - 104 <br />By: Councilman Patricia Bahas <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL EXPRESSING THE <br />COUNCIL'S INTENT AND POLICY TO REFRAIN FROM ISSUING OR <br />ESTABLISHING A NEW TAX FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONSTRUCTING <br />THE BASSETT STERNS EXTENSION IN THE EVENT THE SAME IS <br />PASSED BY THE ELECTORATE AND THE ISSUE THAT IS ON THE <br />BALLOT ON NOVEMBER 8, 1988, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City Council has placed on the ballot the issue of giving <br />consent to the County and the State of Ohio for the extension of Bassett <br />Sterns; and <br />WHEREAS, in recent weeks the County has indicated that in all <br />likelyhood, the City's share of said project which is projected to be <br />approximately six years into the future, will be no more than ten percent <br />of the project cost; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council wishes to express its policy and intent with <br />respect to said proposal in the event of its passage in November of 1988; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this Council by virtue of this resolution does hereby delcare <br />that in the event that the electorate vote affirmatively on the Bassett <br />Sterns proposal, that no new tax will be issued for purposes of paying the <br />City's share of said project. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That this Council does hereby adopt a policy with respect <br />to the funding of the construction of the proposed Bassett Sterns extension <br />if the same is approved by the voters of the City of North Olmsted in <br />November of 1988, that being, that the Council is committed to a policy of <br />not adopting any new tax issue to fund the project.
