CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />Ordinance No. 88-82 <br />?s 9?5 <br />By : ia <br />?2?_ <br />An ordinance establishing the <br />regulation and use of the <br />"Common Center Lane." <br />Whereas, there has been created, on Lorain Road and other streets <br />throughout the City of North Olmsted, a common center lane, and <br />Whereas, there has never been a definition of the use and <br />regulations of said common center lane, and <br />Whereas, the lane is frequently used in a manner that is con- <br />ducive to creating dangerous conditions in its use, and <br />Whereas, it is the desire of this council to restrict and regulate <br />the use of the common center lane. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City of North Olmsted, <br />County of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio: <br />301.071 "COMMON CENTER LANE" <br />"Common Center Lane" means a clearly marked traffic lane, on a <br />laned street or highway, which is between two or more opposite through <br />traffic lanes. <br />301.072 "TRAFFIC STORAGE" <br />"Traffic Storage means the back-up of vehicles waiting to <br />safely make a turn or change of course due to the prevailing traffic <br />conditions or directions of a traffic control devise. <br />331.40 "COMMON CENTER LANE USAGE" <br />(A) No person operating a vehicle shall use a common center <br />lane as a through traffic lane. <br />(B) No person operating a vehicle shall use a common center <br />lane as a passing lane. <br />(C) No person operating a vehicle shall enter a common center <br />lane for through travel in excess of 100 feet prior to merging into <br />a through traffic lane or the making of a turn; or in excess of 100 <br />feet prior to the last vehicle in a line of vehicles using a common <br />center lane for traffic storage prior to turning. <br />That the within Ordinance is presented as an emergency measure <br />necessary for the immediate preservation and protection of the public <br />peace, health, safety and general welfare of the inhabitants of the <br />City, and for the further reason that it is immediately necessary
