or 5 acres (whichever is less). <br />(f) Specific Standards. <br />In all areas of special flood hazards where <br />have been provided as set forth in Section <br />ESTABLISHING THE AREAS OF SPECIAL FLOOD HAZARD, <br />of Other Base Flood Elevation and Floodwaq Data, <br />are required: <br />(g) Residential Construction <br />base flood elevation data <br />1361.03(b), BASIS FOR <br />or Section 1361.04(e), Use <br />the following provisons <br />(1) New construction and substantial improvement of any resi- <br />dential structure shall have the lowest floor, including <br />basement, elevated to or above the base flood elevation. <br />(h) Nonresidential Construction <br />(2) New construction and substantial improvement of any commer- <br />cial, industrial or other nonresidential structure shall <br />either have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated <br />to the level of the base flood elevation; or, together with <br />attendant utility and sanitary facilities, shall: <br />(i) be floodproofed so that below the base flood level <br />the structure is watertight with walls substantially <br />impermeable to the passage of water; <br />(ii) have structural components capable of resisting hydro- <br />static and hydrodynamic loads and effects of buoyancy; <br />and <br />(iii) be certified by a registered professional engineer or <br />architect that the design and methods of construction <br />are in accordance with accepted standards of practice <br />for meeting the standards of this subsection. Such <br />certification shall be provided to the official as set <br />forth in Section 1361.04(3). <br />(i) Accessory Structures. <br />(1) An exemption to the elevation or dry floodproofing standards <br />may be granted for accessory structures (e.g., sheds, de- <br />tached garages) containing 576 square feet or less in gross <br />floor area. Such structures must meet the encroachment <br />provisons of Section 1361.05(1) and the following additional <br />standards:
