<br />? <br />CITY OF NORTH OIMSTID <br />RESOLLITION N0. 88-21 <br />By: Councilman Bohlmann <br />A RESOLITI'ION OBJECTING TO CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF <br />CHAPTER 4117 OF THE OHIO REVISED CODE DETAILING <br />THE STATE COLLEX...',TIVE BARGAINING LAW, SPECIFICALLY <br />CHAP'IER 4117 .14 (C) 6 REQLTIRING THE CITY COt1NCIL TO <br />REJECT THE RECOMNDATIONS OF THE FACI' FINDER <br />WITHIN ONLY SEVE?N (7) DAYS, AND DECIARING AN <br />IIMERGEN(.,'Y. <br />WHEREAS, the State of Ohio has enacted a Collective Bargaining Law <br />for public employees throughout the State of Ohio; and <br />WfEREAS, the State law requires the legislative body of the City <br />of North Olmsted to accept or reject the recommendations of an indepen- <br />dent fact finder no later than seven (7) days after the findings and <br />recommendations are sent; and <br />WI-iEREAS, the Council of the City of North Olmsted believes that the ex- <br />isting tim limit is not sufficient to permit it to exercise its Legisla- <br />tive responsibilities to review the relevant matters raised in light of the <br />City's financial situation and other pertinent matters. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COLTNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OINISTED, COtTN'I'Y OF CLTYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That the Council of the City of North Olmsted objects <br />to the current seven (7) day requirement contained within Section <br />4117.14(C)6 of the Ohio Revised Code and strongly supports a <br />thirty (30) day limit i.nstead which would permit the Council of the City of <br />North Olmsted more time to reasonably review and evaluate the fact finder's <br />recamuendations on issues of great financial interest to the City of North <br />Olmsted. <br />Section 2: That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward certi- <br />fied copies of this resolution to our State Senator and State Represen- <br />tative.
