C ITY OF NORTH OLMS'TED <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-12 <br />BY MAYOR M. YVONNE PETRIGAC <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING LORAIN MAYOR OLEJKO IN <br />HIS EFFORT TO PLACE THE ISSUE OF AMIIZICAN <br />HOSTAGES BEING HII.,D IN THE MIDDLE EAST ON THE <br />AGENDA OF THE UNITED STATES GONFERENCE OF MAYORS, <br />AND DECLARING AN IIMIItGENCY. <br />WHEREAS: Terry Anderson has been a hostage in the Middle East for <br />a considerable period of time; and <br />WHEREAS: The American people and the citizens of North Olmsted <br />desire the immediate release of Terry Anderson and other Americans being <br />illegally held; and <br />WHEREAS: Mayor Olejko deserves the support of this Council in <br />seeking to raise the issue of concern for American hostages including that of <br />Lorain native Terry Anderson: <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY <br />OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />Section 1: That this Council fully supports the efforts of Lorain <br />Mayor Olejko to place this issue of American hostages held in the Middle East <br />on the agenda of the United States Conference of Mayors in Washington, D. C. <br />on January 20, 1988, and urges the conference to adopt a resolution of <br />solidarity opposing the continued illegal imprisonment of innocent Americans <br />by extrgnist elements; and <br />Section 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure immediately necessary for the preservation of the public <br />health, safety and welfare and, provided it receives the affirmative vote of <br />two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />irrmediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: <br />-?-- <br />ATTFST: <br />Ronald J.
