YVONNE PETRIGAC <br />AN ORDINANCE TO PROV:IDE A BE'ITER DRIVING ENVIRONNIE'.N'I' TO <br />PERSONS USING OUR CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS BY ADOPTING <br />THE OHIO MANLTAL OF tINIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES, AND <br />DECLARTNG AN IIMMGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of Nor'ch 07msted finds it necessary to develop a planning <br />policy to provide efficient traffic flow and safety, and <br />WHEE3EAS, after the evaluation of this City's Traffic Safety Procedures has <br />been made available free to the City through funding from the U.S. Federal Highway <br />Administration with cooperation from the Ohio Department of Highway Safety, and <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent of this Administration and Council to bring <br />about a better driving environment to persons using our streets and highways: <br />NOW, 'I'HEREF'ORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH OIMSTED, <br />COIJNI'Y OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION l. That Council does hereby adopt the Ohio Manual of Uniform <br />Traffic Control Devices to standardize the use of multi-way stop signs and conform <br />to traffic signal standards of the State throughout the City. <br />SECTION 2. That the provisions of the standardization be placed in the <br />Adni.nistrative responsibility of the Mayor's Safety Depar'cment as to traffic <br />signs and signals with cooperation of the City's Engineering Division and <br />Signalization Section. <br />SECTION 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency <br />measure irrmlediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare and shall be in full force and take effect imediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Ma.yor. <br />PASSED: <br />A'PI'EST : <br />F'L,ORENCE E.
