WHEREAS, That budget cut equals a 43% reduction and <br />would result in the elimination of millions of families from <br />the program; and <br />WHEREAS, The FY 1992 budget request apparently <br />envisions a gradual phase out of the LIHEAP; and <br />WHEREAS, The LIHEAP continues to be a needed program <br />for residents of the City of North Olmsted. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That it is the desire of this Council to <br />reaffirm its support for LIHEAP as a critically needed <br /> <br />long-term <br />Federal program and <br />urges , <br />the United States <br />Congress to appropriate LIHEAP funding for at least $1.7 <br />billion in FY 1992, and oppose any attemp ts to phase out the <br />program. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution shall take effect and <br />be in force f rom and after the earliest period allowed by <br />law. <br />SECTION 3: That the Clerk of Council is hereby <br />instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to <br />Congressman Edward Feighan and to Senators John Glenn and <br />Howard Metzenbaum. <br />~,' <br />;, i . <br />__ <br />PASSED: ~(~c~~. ,~ / ~~~ <br />ATTEST.• ~ <br />~~ <br />Bar~ara Seman, Cle k of Council <br />~_ ` <br />~~ <br />~~-~~-- <br />;'' James D.
