CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, OHIO <br />RESOLUTION N0. 91-18 <br />BY THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE PUBLIC SERVICE OF FIRE <br />CHIEF JOHN VAN KUREN. <br />WHEREAS, the members of Council, the Mayor and the <br />Administration of the City of North Olmsted, Ohio, wish to <br />commend the public service and dedication of JOHN VAN <br />KUREN by setting forth his record of public service. <br />JOHN VAN KUREN dedicated more than 26 years to the <br />North Olmsted Fire Department, joining as a firefighter <br />on July 16, 1964. <br />He served as Fire Chief from March 23, 1981 to February <br />1, 1991. <br />Prior to achieving this top level position with the <br />Fire Department, John Dan Kuren traveled through the <br />ranks. He was hired as a firefighter in 1964, promoted <br />to lieutenant in 1970, assigned to the Fire Prevention <br />Bureau in 1972, promoted to Captain in 1979 and to <br />Assistant Chief in 1981. <br />Van Kuren was appointed Fire Chief on March 23, 1981, <br />having served nearly 10 years in that position. <br />As Fire Chief, he led a team of 40 firefighters. <br />Since 1981, he has been a member of the International <br />Fire Chiefs' Association and of the Ohio Fire Chiefs' <br />Association. <br />He developed a Regional Fire Prevention Code <br />publication and served on several committees including <br />the Medical Advisory Committee for Westshore Area <br />Rescue and on training for Westshore Hazardous <br />Materials. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Council of the City of North <br />Olmsted, personally and collectively, and on behalf of the <br />Mayor, the Administration and all the residents of the City <br />of North Olmsted, honors the public service of JOHN VAN KUREN. <br />SECTION 2: Be it further resolved that this Resolution <br />be spread in full upon the records of this Council, and that <br />the Clerk of Council is hereby directed to forward a duly <br />authenticated and executed copy of this Resolution to JOHN <br />VAN KUREN. .,..-~1 <br />PASSED: ~~~~(.~tL-~,..
