CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />Resolu(ion No. 93-133 <br />BY.• THE MAYOR AND ENTIRE C/TY COUNCIL <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING OCTOBER 27, 1993 AS NATIONAL <br />UNFUNDED FEDERAL MANDATES DAY, AND DECLAR/NG AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, unfunded federa/ mandates have become the sing/e, largest <br />financial burden in our nation's cities and towns; and <br />WHEREAS, Nationa/ Unfunded Federa/ Mandates Day represents an <br />opportunity to call attention to the growing burden that unfunded federa/ mandates <br />have p/aced on the shou/ders of every taxpayer in every city; and <br />WHEREAS, North O/msted wou/d be joining many other cities and counties <br />nationwide in marking this event, which is designed to call attention to the debilitating <br />burden placed on /oca/ government by unfunded federa/ mandates; and <br />WHEREAS, in the past twe/ve years, the number of federa/ mandates has <br />more than doub/ed, while federa/ funding to /oca/ governments has dropped <br />significant/y; and <br />WHEREAS, National Unfunded Federa/ Mandates Day is sponsored by the <br />U. S. Conference of Mayors, the Association of Counties, the National League of Cities <br />and the /nternationa/ City/County Management Association. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That it is the desire of this council to observe October 27, 1993 <br />as the Nationa/ Unfunded Federal Mandates Day.
