CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 93- 106 <br />BY.• MAYOR EDWARD BOYLE <br />AN ORDINANCE REPEALING SECTION 139.04 OF THE <br />CODIFIED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTEDAND TITLED PRIVATE POLICE REGISTRATION. <br />WHEREAS, Ordinance Number 79-27 was enacted to provide for the registration of <br />private security guards with the Police Division; and <br />WHEREAS, contained within the Ordinance,which was codified in Section 139.04, the <br />City required a registration fee of Fifteen Dollars ($15.00); and <br />WHEREAS, the City was challenged by the Private Detectives Association with respect <br />to the payment of the aforesaid fee which challenge ended in the Ohio Supreme Court in favor <br />of the Private Detectives Association; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the belief of this Council upon the recommendation of the Director of <br />Law and the Director of Public Safety to cease further registration of Private Detectives, <br />Security Guards, or Private Investigators in that it is a duplication of the efforts by the State of <br />Ohio, and further that because the administrative costs for such program cannot be recaptured, <br />the program previously adopted should be abandoned. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYEIHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 139.04 of the Codified Ordinances of the City of North <br />Olmsted entitled Private Police Registration be and the same is hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 2. That this Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force from and after <br />the earliest period allowed by law. <br />
