' ... <br />Ordinance No: 93-26 Page Four of Six <br />SECTION 3: Funeral Leave: <br />(A) A full-time employee shall be granted a three (3) <br />day leave of absence with pay, in the event of the death of <br />an immediate family member. <br />(B) A full-time employee shall be granted a five (5) <br />day leave of absence with pay, in the event of the death of <br />an immediate family member who resides outside the state of <br />Ohio. <br />(C) For the purpose of this section, immediate family <br />shall include, parent, parents of spouse, spouse and <br />children of the employee, brothers and sisters of the <br />employee, and step-parents of the employee as well as other <br />relatives living with the employee if the employee is acting <br />as parent or guardian. <br />SECTION 5: Parental Leave <br />All employees shall be entitled to parental leave upon <br />the birth or adoption of a child, providing said employee is <br />the natural parent of the child or is the legal parent of <br />the adopted child. The duration of the leave shall be at <br />the employees discretion. Such leave shall not be permitted <br />in less than (1) day increments. Employees desiring to use <br />such leave in increments of less than six (6) consecutive <br />months shall provide the Employer a minimum of five (5) days <br />notice and a schedule listing the day or days the employee <br />will utilize the parental leave benefit. In any event, such <br />leave shall not exceed beyond six (6) months from the date <br />such leave was first requested. <br />An employee shall be entitled to use vacation leave or <br />accumulated sick leave credit in lieu of being unpaid. <br />During the period in which an employee is off work on <br />parental leave, said employee shall not accumulate vacation <br />leave credit nor sick leave credit. <br />The Employer may require at its discretion satisfactory <br />proof such as a certificate of birth of the child or in the <br />case of an adopted child, a copy of the court document <br />authorizing the adoption. <br />When an employee returns to work after a leave of <br />absence, he will be assigned to the position which he or she <br />formerly occupied at the current rate of pay or to a similar <br />position if his/her former position no longer exists if <br />he/she is physically qualified for the job.
