CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 45 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE <br />TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT TO <br />PROVIDE ASPHALT RESURFACING AND RELATED REPAIRS UPON <br />CITY STREETS, AS DETAILED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE <br />WITH THE ENGINEER, AND A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING <br />APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SAME WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City is in need of asphalt repair services for various streets within the <br />City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will utilize such asphalt repair and resurfacing services to further <br />complete roadway rehabilitation as detailed in the annually updated comprehensive street repair <br />list; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for the award of a contract to undertake asphalt resurfacing and related repairs <br />on various City streets, as set forth in specifications on file with the City Engineer, and to further <br />authorize the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract with the <br />lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED B Y THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service is hereby authorized to advertise for <br />bids for a contract for asphalt resurfacing and related street, sewer and/or curbing repairs upon <br />City streets, in accordance with the plans and specifications on file; and further that, upon <br />approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to enter into such a <br />contract and execute same on behalf of the City of North Olmsted with the lowest and best <br />bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may expedite competitive bidding for seasonal work, and further, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
