CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 51 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY TO <br />APPLY ON BEHALF OF THE CITY TO THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC <br />SAFETY FOR THE 2011-2012 EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES GRANT FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF FUNDING AMBULANCE EQUIPMENT; FURTHER <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, IF THE APPLICATION IS GRANTED, TO ENTER <br />INTO AGREEMENTS TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT FUNDS, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Public Safety may provide funding assistance for <br />purchase of ambulance equipment by and through its 2011-2012 Emergency Medical Services <br />Grants for Emergency Management Systems (EMS) Program and, if successful, up to $4,000.00 <br />may be awarded to the City; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />apply on behalf of the City to the Ohio Department of Public Safety for an EMS Grant to assist <br />in funding for ambulance equipment; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />.NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Safety be and is hereby authorized to apply for <br />Ohio Department of Public Safety EMS Grant funds. <br />SECTION Z: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that <br />the Director of Public Safety be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents <br />necessary to effectuate receipt of the Grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because of Grant <br />deadlines; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />PASSED: `~ 1, l ~~ t~~f _ <br />First Reading: _ ~~" <~-z~ l ! <br />Second Reading.• ~r~ ~'r~~ f.•l <br />Third Reading.• ~ ~~.-- <br />Committee: ~,•iJ A -~ <br />ATTTEST.• <br />1 <br />
