CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 57 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR ON BEHALF OF THE <br />CITY TO APPLY TO THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE FOR <br />THE 2011-2012 DRUG USE PREVENTION PROGRAM GRANT FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF PARTIALLY FUNDING THE SCHOOL RESOURCE <br />OFFICER; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, IF THE <br />APPLICATION IS GRANTED, TO ENTER INTO AGREEMENTS TO <br />ACCEPT SAID GRAINY FUNDS, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Attorney General's Office administers a Drug Prevention Program <br />which may provide partial funding assistance for the salary paid by the City of North Olmsted to <br />it's School Resource Officer (SRO) for drug use prevention and education programs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to apply, on behalf of <br />the City, to the Ohio Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant to assist in funding for <br />the SRO and to provide prevention and education programs. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor of Police be and he is hereby authorized to apply for Ohio <br />Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant for FY 2011-2012. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant, if <br />awarded, on behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that <br />the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents necessary to effectuate <br />receipt of the Grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because of Grant <br />deadlines (May 6, 2011); and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds <br />of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~~i~ ti ~ ~ ~~ ~ I ~ <br />First Reading: ~/~ 1 ~ ~ <br />Second Reading: ~~~ <br />Third Reading: ,I~t!`~t/' ~Gf <br />Committee: ~;~~~~~C f <br />1 <br />
