CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2011 - 77 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ADVERTISE FOR <br />BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT TO REPAIR AND REPLACE <br />SECTIONS OF THE RECREATION CENTER ROOF, AS DETAILED IN <br />THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE WITH THE ENGINEER, AND <br />AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD <br />OF CONTROL, TO CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST <br />AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City is in need of a replacement dehumidification system due to the <br />accumulation of excessive moisture in the pool at the Recreation Center; and <br />WHEREAS, in designing the replacement dehumidification system, it became obvious <br />that certain roof structures were decayed and incapable of being repaired, thereby necessitating <br />replacement; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to advertise for bids <br />for the award of a contract to replace /repair the recreation center flat roof, as set forth in <br />specifications on file with the City Engineer, and to further authorize the Mayor, following <br />approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to advertise for bids for a contract to <br />replace the flat roof and related areas at the Recreation Center, in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications on file; and further that, upon approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor be and <br />is hereby authorized to enter into such a contract and execute same on behalf of the City of North <br />Olmsted with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may coordinate the roof repair with the installation of the dehumidification system, all the while <br />ensuring uninterrupted service, and further, provided it receives the affirmative vote oftwo-thirds <br />of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage <br />and approval by the Mayor. <br />
