CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 84 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE <br />TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT TO <br />CONSTRUCT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SANITARY SEWER <br />COLLECTION SYSTEM AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY, AS <br />DETAILED IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE SERVICE <br />DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING <br />APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SAME WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, having previously studied the current and future needs of the Waste Water <br />Treatment Plant and Collection System, the City has prepared plans and specifications to <br />construct improvements to, among other things, the lift stations and general collection system all <br />in an effort, among other things, to increase capacity in the system and plant, to eliminate <br />sanitary sewer system bypasses and to prevent future sanitary sewer system backups; and <br />WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid the collection systems <br />portion of the project have been prepared and are on file in the Service Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for the award of a contract to construct improvements to the sanitary sewer <br />collection system at various locations in the City, as set forth in the said specifications, and to <br />further authorize the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract <br />with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized to <br />advertise for bids for the award of a contract to construct improvements to the sanitary sewer <br />collection system at various locations in the City, as detailed in the specifications now on file in <br />the Service Department, and that further, the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control <br />is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to loan <br />deadline requirements pertaining to public bidding; and further provided it receives the <br />
