CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 90 <br />By: Mayor Kevin M. Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED FORA 2011 NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF DRUG <br />DIVERSION INVESTIGATORS ("NADDI') DRUG DROP BOX GRANT; <br />FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT IF <br />AWARDED; AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH NADDI, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators ("NADDI") has <br />made available to communities a prescription drug drop box to be placed in the lobby of the <br />police department; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, will assist in the safe and expeditious disposal of <br />unwanted prescription drugs on a year round basis; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant, if awarded, requires no local match of funds; and <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Public Safety and Mayor Kennedy believe that this grant <br />will provide a needed repository for left over, outdated or unwanted prescription drugs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for said NADDI grant, and to authorize the Mayor to accept <br />the grant if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the NADDI Drug Drop Box program on behalf of the <br />City of North Olmsted for the purpose of offering a safe repository for unused prescription <br />drugs; and does further authorize the Mayor to accept the grant and execute a contract and any <br />and all other necessary papers, if a grant is awarded. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for the grant funds, and further, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />
