CITY OF NORTIFI OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 92 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR PARTICIPATION IN, AND GRANT FUNDING <br />FOR, THE JUSTICE ASSISTANCE BULLETPROOF VEST PARTNERSHIP <br />GRANT; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE <br />GRANT IF AWARDED AND TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Division of Police would like to participate in <br />the Justice Assistance Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant ("JAG") program sponsored by the <br />United States Department of Justice; and <br />WHEREAS, the grant provides for the purchase of bullet proof vests; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will be seeking up to $7,024.00 in grant funds and there is no <br />required local fund match; and <br />WHEREAS, the Division of Police, if successful in obtaining JAG funding, would like to <br />acquire said bullet proof vests; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for participation and funding, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the JAG; and does further authorize the Mayor to <br />accept the award and execute a contract and any and all other necessary papers, if successful in <br />the grant application. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for participation; and further, provided it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~,{` _ First Reading: <br />Second Reading: '1 <br />Third Reading: ~1~ ~ ~! <br />Committee: " ~ ~ <br />ATTEST: <br />
