CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 101 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />TO MAKE APPLICATION WITH THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC <br />SAFETY FOR RENEWAL OF A GRANT FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE <br />`THIRD GRADE SAFETY BELT PROGRAM'; FURTHER AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT FUNDING IF A WARDED AND TO EXECUTE <br />CONTRACTS IF NECESSARY, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) offers to provide grant <br />funding to the City of North Olmsted Police Department, Student Resource Officer, for <br />participation in the `Third Grade Safety Belt Program'; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted Division of Police may qualify for grant funding <br />at the rate of $4.00 per student for 320 students, for a total amount of $1,280.00; and <br />WHEREAS, no local matching funds are required; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for said grant, and to authorize the Mayor to accept the grant if <br />awarded and to execute any necessary contract documents. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application to the Ohio Department of Public Safety for participation <br />in the `Third Grade Safety Belt Program' in order to obtain grant funding for the education <br />course in 2012; and <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to accept said grant <br />funding if awarded and to execute all contract documents required by the ODPS; and <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may make a timely application for the grant funding; and further, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~ ~ ,~ ~ l ~ I <br />First Reading.• ~~~~~o// <br />Second Reading: Z(J', -~ ~ -~ <br />Third Reading: ~~~ tit cy <br />Comn~aittee: , 5~~.{,y~ ~g~ <br />
