CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 116 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND <br />DEVELOPMENT TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A <br />CONTRACT TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR THE <br />COUNTRY CL UB BOULEVARD STREETSCAPE PROJECT, AS DETAILED <br />IN THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE ENGINEERING <br />DEPARTMENT, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, FOLLOWING <br />APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO CONTRACT FOR THE <br />SAME WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City upon application received a Three Hundred Fifty Thousand Dollar <br />($350,000.00) Community Development Block Grant award to provide for streetscape <br />renovations and enhancements to Country Club Blvd., in the area between Lorain Road and <br />Victoria Lane; and <br />WHEREAS, the Country Club Boulevard streetscape Project consists of physical <br />improvements within the right of way including new crosswalks, sidewalk and curb ramp repair <br />or replacement, and replacement of the center medians with landscape materials, brickscape, <br />lighting and decorative signage; and <br />WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid for said improvements <br />have been prepared and are on file in the Engineering Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Development to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to make such improvements within <br />the right of way, as set forth in said specifications, and to further authorize the Mayor, following <br />approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Development be and she is hereby <br />authorized to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to construct improvements within the <br />right of way of Country Club Blvd., as detailed in the specifications now on file in the <br />Engineering Department, and that the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, is <br />hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />
