CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 126 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE WESTERN RESERVE AREA AGENCY ON <br />AGING TO PROVIDE FOR FEDERAL TITLE III PROGRAM GRANT <br />FUNDS FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, Council has provided for the establishment of the City's Title III programs, <br />to wit: the Senior Community Services Program and the Family Caregivers Support Program, <br />now operated by the Division of Aging at the Multipurpose Senior Center, including support <br />personnel to manage and operate the program; and <br />WHEREAS, the existing Title III programs have enjoyed tremendous success at the <br />Senior Center and have qualified for Nutrition Grant funds in the amount of $10,301.00 for <br />2012; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's financial participation in the current and continued Title III <br />programs has been and will be limited to in-kind contributions, such as facility usage, utilities, <br />staffing, and office supplies; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize this Agreement with Western <br />Reserve Area Agency on Aging in order to sustain the Title III programs operated by the City's <br />Division of Aging for the benefit of senior citizens and to therefore authorize acceptance of <br />additional funding, and execution of the necessary Agreement. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Mayor to enter into an <br />Agreement with the Western Reserve Area Office on Aging to provide for fiscal year 2012 Title <br />III Program Grants, pursuant to the Older Americans Act of 1965 (42 USC Section 35), in order <br />to continue, sustain and renew current programs funding, on such terms and conditions, and in a <br />form approved by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and for the <br />reason that this legislation must go into effect immediately in order to meet the November 22, <br />2011, deadline; and further provided it receives the affirmative vote oftwo-thirds of all members <br />of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />PASSED: ~~;~~~,,,~ ~~~~ /~; ~ ~/ First Reading: / ~° ~~~ {/ <br />
