CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION N0.2011 - 129 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZI.NG AND DIRECTING THE DIRECTOR OF <br />PUBLIC SAFETY TO MAKE APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED FOR PARTICIPATION IN, AND GRANT FUNDING <br />FOR, THE COMBINED 2012 "OVI TASK FORCE OVERTIME" AND <br />"CLICK IT OR TICKET" GRANTS; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANTS IF A WARDED AND TO EXECUTE A <br />CONTRACT FOR THE SAME, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Division of Police again would like to <br />participate in the "OVI Task Force Overtime Grant" for 2012, sponsored by the State of Ohio, <br />Department of Public Safety and University Hospitals of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the program provides funding for targeted OVI (Operating a Vehicle while <br />under the Influence) enforcement to be conducted by the Division of Police in cooperation with <br />the Cuyahoga County OVI Task Force in August and September of 2012; and <br />WHEREAS, the program seeks to decrease the incidence of OVI violations, decrease <br />crashes involving alcohol or drug impaired drivers, and increase enforcement of UVI laws; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of North Olmsted, Division of Police also again would like to <br />participate in the 2012 ``Click it or 'ticket Overtime Grant" program also sponsored by the State <br />of Ohio, Department of Publics Safety and University Hospitals of Cleveland; and <br />WHEREAS, the program provides funding for targeted safety belt enforcement and <br />awareness education to be conducted by the Division of Police in May and June of 2012; and <br />WHEREAS, the program's goal is to increase safety belt usage in the City of North <br />Olmsted and Cuyahoga County; and <br />WHEREAS, though separate in 2011, the grant funding for the programs has combined <br />for the year 2012 and the combined rate will not exceed $6,024.72; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of <br />Public Safety to make application for participation and fiinding, and to fiirther authorize the <br />Mayor to accept the funding if awarded. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That this Council does hereby authorize the Director of Public Safety to <br />prepare, sign and submit an application for the 2012, "OVI Task Force Overtime Grant" and the <br />2012, "Click it or Ticket Overtime Grant"; and does further authorize the Mayor to accept the <br />awards and execute a contracts} and any and all other necessary papers, if successful in the grant <br />application(s). <br />
