a <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 - 1 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO PURCHASE FOR <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT USE TWO (2) NEW FORD POLICE <br />INTERCEPTORS AND RELATED EQUIPMENT, ALL THROUGH THE <br />STATE PURCHASE PROGRAM; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE SUCH PURCHASE, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, thc North Olmsted Police Department needs to replace two (2) police <br />cruisers due to theii• age and condition for an estimated cost of Sixty Six Thousand dollars <br />($66,000.00), paid for from the Hotel Motel Fund for safety equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to purchase two (2) <br />new Ford Interceptor Cruisers, one being a Utility vehicle and the other being a Sedan, together <br />with related police equipment, through the State purchase program, as a permitted exception to <br />the competitive bidding procedure that otherwise would be required for such expenditures, and to <br />further authorize the Mayor to execute any documents required for such expenditure, including, <br />subject to approval of the Board of Control, if necessary, a contract with the lowest and best <br />bidder selected among State qualiiied vendors. <br />NOW, THEREFURE, &E IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OL1YlSTED, COU1V%'Y OF CUY"AHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to purchas:: thrcugh the <br />State Purchasing Program, which was established by R.C. Section 125.04, and which the City is <br />authorized to participate in pursuant to the City Charter and Resalutioli No. 87-6, two (2) new <br />Ford Yolice lnterceptor Cruisers (one (1) Utility and one (1) Sedan), and related police equipinent <br />for these vehicles, all of which is desct•ibed in the specitications on file in the Police Department. <br />If necessary to effectuate any sucb purchase through the State Purchasing Progratn, the IN/Ilayor is <br />herebv authorized to execute any contract and/oi• other necessary documents required by the <br />authorized vendor(s), the State of Ohio, or the Charter. Any contract executed by the Mayour <br />shall be in a form and substance consistent with the provisions of this Resolutian and approved <br />by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That the purchase of and tinancing for said vehicles shall be through the <br />Hotel Motel Fund. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that ttus Resolution go into effect immediately to meet the <br />manufacturer's deadline and insure availability during the order period so that Police Department
