CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 - 63 <br />BY: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING <br />AND DEVELOPMENT TO SOLICIT STATEMENTS OF <br />QUALIFICATIONS FROM ODOT PRE-QUALIFIED FIRMS TO <br />SERVE AS DESIGN ENGINEER FOR THE NORTH OLMSTED <br />SIGNAL SYSTEM PROJECT; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE FIRM <br />SELECTED IN THE RFQ PROCESS, AFTER APPROVAL BY THE <br />BOARD OF CONTROL, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, on June 8, 2012, the Governing Board of the Northeast Ohio <br />Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) approved the City's application for federal <br />funding in the amount of 8.6 million dollars to design and construct improvement of the <br />City's traffic signalization system; and <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Signals Projecf will involve upgrades to the <br />City's entire traffic signal system, including improvements to controller equipment, <br />support poles, underground conduit, pull boxes, interconnect and vehicle detection, <br />control systems software and central server, to integrate and coordinate traffic signals; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the funding requirements include the cost and employment of traffic <br />engineering firms pre-qualified by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) as <br />well as 20% City contribution; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning <br />and Development to request proposals from traffic system design engineering firms to <br />provide consulting services related to the North Olmsted Signals Project and, upon <br />approval of the Board of Control, to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with <br />the proposal selected in the RFQ process. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Development be and she hereby <br />is authorized to request qualifications (RFQ) from traffic engineering and signal design <br />professionals that are certified by or otherwise pre-qualified by industry standards <br />imposed by ODOT for the design work and specifications related to the North Olmsted <br />Signals Project.
