CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 - 70 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MA YOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE NORTH OLMSTED CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />TO PROVIDE FOR FUNDING OF THE SCHDOL RESOIIRCE OFFICER <br />(SRO) FOR FISCAL YEAR 2012-13, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Police Department has, for several years, provided a <br />police officer to be assigned to the North Olmsted City School District to perform duties as a <br />School Resource Officer (SRO) with remarkable success; <br />WHEREAS, the City has provided financial support for the SRO program in the form of <br />wages and benefits as well as securing funding assistance for drug abuse prevention and <br />education programs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to enter into an <br />Agreement with the School District and accept funding from the School District for the SRO <br />program. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor of Police be and he is hereby authorized to enter into an <br />Agreement with the North Olmsted City School District, by and through its Board of Education, <br />to provide funding for assignment of a North Olmsted Police Officer to serve as a Student <br />Resource Officer (SRO). Said Agreement shall be substantially in the form marked as Exhibit <br />"A" and attached hereto, with only such changes therein as are not substantially adverse to the <br />City and which are approved by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because the <br />school year begins August 23, 2012; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of <br />two-thirds of all members of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />PASSED: ?2,?? ?? cG}(,,1/ ?-- <br />?. <br />First Reading.• f I <br />Second Reading: /..?
