CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -122 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO IMPLEMENT A <br />DESIGN / BUILD SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE AWARD OF A <br />CONTRACT FOR THE DESIGN, INSTALLATION AND SERVICE OF <br />FIRE AND SECURITY ALARM SYSTEMS AT SPRINGVALE GOLF <br />COURSE AND BALLROOM, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, <br />FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, TO <br />CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. <br />WHEREAS, on November 2, 2010, the electors of the City of North Olmsted amended <br />Charter Art. V, §6, to permit a design build process as a means of awarding contracts within the <br />City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, the Facilities Manager of Springvale Golf Course and Ballroom has <br />identified a need to update and improve the existing Fire Alarm and Security System at said <br />facilities; and <br />WHEREAS, design criteria, as prepared by the Facilities Manager, are on file with the <br />City of North Olmsted; and <br />WHEREAS, the City believes that contractors skilled in the design and installation of fire <br />alarm and security systems are adequately prepared to identify the need and selection of proper <br />equipment to ensure the public health, safety and welfare; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to solicit proposals for <br />the construction and installation of a fire alarm and security system, and to further authorize the <br />Mayor to enter into a contract with the successful applicant, after Board of Control approval. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to solicit proposals for the <br />design and construction of fire alarm and security system at Springvale Golf Course and <br />Ballroom according to design criteria on file. <br />SECTION 2: A committee consisting of the Safety Director or the Chief of Police, the <br />Chief of Fire and the Facilities Manager shall prepare and approve amendments to design criteria <br />and shall arrange for a solicitation process and method by which interested applicants can view, <br />test or analyze the existing facilities in order to design a responsive system.
