CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2012 -128 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO PURCHASE FOR <br />POLICE DEPARTMENT USE THREE (3) NEW FORD SEDAN POLICE <br />INTERCEPTORS AND ONE (1) NEW FORD UTILITY POLICE <br />INTERCEPTOR AND RELATED EQUIPMENT, ALL THROUGH THE <br />STATE PURCHASE PROGRAM; AND FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR TO EXECUTE ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY TO <br />EFFECTUATE SUCH PURCHASE, AND DECLARWG AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the North Olmsted Police Department needs to replace four (4) police <br />cruisers due to their age and condition with three (3) cruisers and one (1) utility vehicle for an <br />estimated cost of One Hundred Thirty Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Dollars <br />($132,850.00), paid for from the Hotel Motel Fund for safety equipment; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to purchase three (3) <br />new Ford Interceptor Cruisers and one (1) new Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle, together with <br />related police equipment, through the State purchase program, as a permitted exception to the <br />competitive bidding procedure that otherwise would be required for such expenditures, and to <br />further authorize the Mayor to execute any documents required for such expenditure, including, <br />subject to approval of the Board of Control, if necessary, a contract with the lowest and best <br />bidder selected among State qualified vendors. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized to purchase through the <br />State Purchasing Program, which was established by R.C. Section 125.04, and which the City is <br />authorized to participate in pursuant to the City Charter and Resolution No. 87-6, three (3) new <br />Ford Interceptor Cruisers and one (1) new Ford Interceptor Utility vehicle, and related police <br />equipment for these vehicles, all of which is described in the specifications on file in the Police <br />Department. If necessary to effectuate any such purchase through the State Purchasing Program, <br />the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute any contract and/or other necessary documents <br />required by the authorized vendor(s), the State of Ohio, or the Charter. Any contract executed by <br />the Mayor shall be in a form and substance consistent with the provisions of this Resolution and <br />approved by the Director of Law. <br />SECTION 2: That the purchase of and financing for said vehicles shall be through the <br />Hotel Motel Fund.
