<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2013 - 48 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PLANNING AND <br />DEVELOPMENT TO ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A <br />CONTRACT TO PROVIDE CONSTRUCTION SERVICES FOR <br />IMPROVEMENTS. TO ;THE 1VORTlI OLMSTED POLICE STATION <br />CONSISTENT WITH THE ACCESSIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF THE <br />AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT, AND AUTHORIZING THE <br />MAYOR, FOLLOWING APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL TO <br />CONTRACT FOR THE SAME WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST BIDDER, <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the City previously undertook a study to identify conditions upon city <br />properties and facilities which interfered or affected accessibility thereto by persons living with <br />physical limitations; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council previously borrowed funds to undertake the recommended <br />improvements at the Police Station; and <br />VA*Wl WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid Americans with <br />Disabilities Act ("ADA") accessibility improvements at the Police Station have been prepared by <br />the Department of Planning and Development and are on file in said Department; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Planning and <br />Development to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to construct various improvements <br />to the North Olmsted Police Department, as set forth in the said specifications, and to further <br />authorize the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, to enter into a contract with the <br />lowest and best bidder. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Planning and Development be and she hereby is <br />authorized to advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide construction services to the <br />North Olmsted Police Department, as detailed in the specifications now on file in the Planning <br />and Development Department, and that the Mayor, following approval by the Board of Control, <br />is hereby authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately in order to
