CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2013 - 64 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE MAYOR ON BEHALF OF THE <br />CITY TO APPLY TO THE OHIO ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE FOR <br />THE FY 2013-2014 DRUG IISE PREVENTION PROGRAM GRANT FOR <br />THE PURPOSE OF PARTIALLY FUNDING THE SCHOOL RESOURCE <br />OFFICER; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO <br />AGREEMENT TO ACCEPT SAID GRANT FUNDS, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Ohio Attorney General's Office administers a Drug Prevention Program <br />which may provide partial funding assistance for the salary paid by the City of North Olmsted to <br />it's School Resource Officer (SRO) for drug use prevention and education programs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Mayor to apply, on behalf of <br />the City, to the Ohio Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant to assist in funding for <br />the SRO and to provide drug abuse prevention and education programs. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Mayor or his designee be, and he is hereby authorized to, apply to <br />the Ohio Attorney General for a Drug Use Prevention Grant for FY 2013-2014. <br />SECTION 2: That the Mayor be, and he hereby is, authorized to accept the Grant on <br />behalf of the City of North Olmsted and to execute a contract, if required; and that the Mayor be, <br />and he hereby is, authorized to execute all other documents necessary to effectuate receipt of the <br />Grant. <br />SECTION 3: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason that it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately because of Grant <br />deadlines; and further provided that it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />of Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor. <br />PASSED: C' --At:)l? <br />First Reading: y/o/I&_ <br />Second Reading: _J_1cf?.??'4P1-J <br />Third Reading: <br />Committee: <br />1
