<br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2013 - 69 <br />BY: Council Member Orlowski <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1501.2501 OF THE <br />TAXATION CODE IN ORDER TO INCREASE THE TERM OF <br />OFFICE FOR COUNCIL MEMBERS TO FOUR (4) YEARS. <br />WHEREAS, the Intra-Governmental Committee of City Council reviewed the <br />term of office for Council members appointed to and serving on the Board of Review and <br />recommended an increase to four (4) years; and <br />WHEREAS, it is accordingly the desire of this Council to amend Section <br />1501.2501 to increase the term for Council members serving to four (4) years. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That Section 1501.2501 ("Board of Review Established") of the <br />Taxation Code, which presently reads as follows: <br />? 1501.2501 BOARD OF REVIEW ESTABLISHED. <br />A Board of Review, consisting of the Mayor or a director designated by <br />him, the Director of Law, the Assistant Director of Law designated by him and a <br />member of Council to be elected by that body, is hereby created. The Board shall <br />select, each year for a one-year term, one of its members to serve as chairman and <br />one to serve as secretary. A majority of the members of the Board shall constitute <br />a quorum. The Board shall adopt its own procedural rules and shall keep a record <br />of its transactions. Any hearing by the Board may be conducted privately and the <br />provisions of Section 1501.2309 with reference to the confidential character of <br />information acquired to be disclosed by this Title shall apply to such matters as <br />may be heard before the Board on appeal. <br />(Ord. 93-117. Passed 10-5-93.) <br />BE AMENDED AND, AS AMENDED, SHALL READ AS FOLLOWS: <br />1501.2501 BOARD OF REVIEW ESTABLISHED. <br />A Board of Review, consisting of the Mayor or a director designated by <br />him, the Director of Law, the Assistant Director of Law designated by him and a <br />member of Council to be elected by that body, is hereby created. The Board shall <br />select, each year for a one-year term, one of its members to serve as chairman and <br />one to serve as secretary. The City Council member may serve for a term of <br />four years, or as may be appointed by City Council, and so long as said <br />appointee is and remains a member of City Council. A majority of the <br />members of the Board shall constitute a quorum. The Board shall adopt its own <br />procedural rules and shall keep a record of its transactions. Any hearing by the <br />Board may be conducted privately and the provisions of Section 1501.2309 with <br />reference to the confidential character of information acquired to be disclosed by <br />this Title shall apply to such matters as may be heard before the Board on appeal.
