Richard H. Knight - William Biddulph House <br />4302 Porter Road <br />North Olmsted, Ohio 44070 <br />PROPOSAL STATEMENT <br />The Landmarks Commission of the City of North Olmsted has researched and assembled the <br />documented historical information contained in this Landmark Designation Proposal. The <br />Commission recommends that the Richard H. Knight - William Biddulph House be designated <br />as a Landmark and a plaque signifying such status be affixed to the front of the house, directly <br />adjacent to the existing NORTH OLMSTED HISTORIC BUILDING plaque. <br />This proposal for Landmark Designation is in conformance with the CHARTER OF THE CITY <br />OF NORTH OLMSTED, ARTICLE 7, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, SECTTON 6, <br />LANDMARKS COMMISSION, Paragraph 165.05 DESIGNATION OF LANDMARKS, which <br />states: <br />(a) A building or other structure may be designated by the Commission as a landmark if <br />the Commission determines, on the basis of the evidence before it, that the building or <br />other structure meets two (2) or more of the following criteria: <br />(1) It has character, interest or value, as part of the development, heritage or <br />cultural characteristics of the City, State or Nation: <br />(2) It is the site of an historic event with an effect upon society: <br />(3) It is identified with a person or group of persons who had some influence on <br />society: or <br />(4) It exemplifies the cultural, political, economic, social or historic heritage of <br />the community. <br />The Knight - Biddulph house, along with the contributions of the Knight and Biddulph families, <br />in Dover Township, Olmstead Township and North Olmsted, Ohio, meet the criteria listed above <br />in items (1) and (4) ofparagraph 165.05, for the designation of Landmark status. <br />This Landmark Designation Proposal is being submitted respectively to the City of North <br />Olmsted Planning Commission and the North Olmsted City Council, for their review and <br />approval, and the granting of Landmark status to the Richard H. Knight - William Biddulph <br />House.
