CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2013 - 101 <br />By: Mayor Kennedy <br />A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICE TO <br />ADVERTISE FOR BIDS FOR THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT TO INSTALL A <br />SEWAGE GRINDER AT THE BROXBOURNE PUMP STATION, AS DETAILED IN <br />THE SPECIFICATIONS ON FILE IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND, <br />FOLLOWING THE APPROVAL OF THE BOARD OF CONTROL, AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A CONTRACT WITH THE LOWEST AND BEST <br />BIDDER, AND DECLARING AN EMER GENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Public Service has advised this Council that it is necessary to <br />install a sewage grinder at the Broxbourne Pump Station, in order to capture and grind sewage, which <br />will in turn maximize and protect pump production, minimize the expense of downstream clogs and <br />downtime, and otherwise reduce labor intensive hand(ing and transportation cost; and <br />WHEREAS, the necessary specifications to competitively bid a contract for sewage grinder <br />equipment and installation, as prepared under the direction of the Service Department of the City of <br />North Olmsted, are on file in the Service Director's Office; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Director of Public Service to <br />advertise for bids for the award of a contract to provide a new sewage grinder at the Broxbourne Pump <br />Station, and to further authorize the Mayor to enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder to <br />purchase said sewage grinder, after Board of Control approval; and <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORTH <br />OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Service be and he is hereby authorized to advertise for <br />bids for the award of a contract to provide a new sewage grinder at the Broxbourne Pump Station in <br />accordance with the specifications now on file in the Service Director's Office, and further that, upon <br />approval by the Board of Control, the Mayor is authorized to enter into a contract and execute the same <br />on behalf of the City of North Olmsted with the lowest and best bidder. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety, and welfare, and for the <br />further reason it is necessary that this legislation go into effect immediately in order that the City <br />may immediately address sewage treatment facilities and further, provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of the Council, it shall take effect and be in force <br />immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor. <br />; <br />f: <br />PASSED: <br />First Reading: ? 6, _ot : ; <br />Second Reading: 11 i'Y <br />Third Reading.• 1n{ J??,y-nT? - <br />Committee:
