?.. .,? <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2006 - 157 <br />BY: Mayor O'Grady <br />AN ORDINANCE A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SAFETY <br />TO APPOINT A TEMPORARY, PART-TIME FIRE ADMINISTRATOR TO <br />ASSIST THE FIRE CHIEF, ESTABLISHING A PAY RANGE, AND <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY, AS AMENDED. <br />WHEREAS, as a result of the extended absence of the Assistant Fire Chief and his <br />pending application for disability retirement, the Fire Chief has been required to assume and <br />perform duties of the Assistant Fire Chief; and <br />WHEREAS, because of the length of time that it is anticipated that the absence of the <br />Assistant Fire Chief from duties will continue and the burden that it has placed on the Fire Chief, <br />the Fire Chief has requested assistance of a fire professional to perform some of the duties of the <br />Assistant Fire Chief until such time as either the Assistant Fire Chief returns to his duties or a <br />new Assistant Fire Chief is appointed; and <br />WHEREAS, it is anticipated by the Fire Chief that he will need such assistance for at <br />least the next four months; and <br />WHEREAS, it is vital to the mission of the Fire Division that such professional <br />assistance is immediately provided, especially with respect to providing for the safety of <br />the community by insuring that all necessary plan reviews and inspections are being <br />performed in the Fire Prevention Bureau; and <br />WHEREAS, acting on the recommendation of the Director of Public Safety and the Fire <br />Chief, it is the desire of this Council to authorize the Directar of Public Safety to appoint a <br />temporary, part-time Fire Administrator to perform duties of the Assistant Fire Chief, as <br />established in the Rules and Regulations of the North Olmsted Fire Department, until such time <br />as either the present Assistant Fire Chief retums permanently to duty ar a new Assistant Fire <br />Chief is appointed; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Public Safety be and he is hereby authorized to <br />appoint a temporary, part-time Fire Administrator in the Division of Fire within the Department <br />of Public Safety, who shall, under the supervision of the Fire Chief, perform duties of the <br />Assistant Fire Chief, as established by the Rules and Regulations of the Division of Fire. Said <br />temporarv annointment shall terminate on the date of the earliest of the following three events• <br />(1) one hundred twentv (120) davs from the date of said temporary appointment (2) the return of <br />the present Assistant Fire Chief to duty, or (3) the annointment of a new Assistant Fire Chief. <br />The temporary, part-time Fire Administrator so appointed shall be qualified by training, <br />certification, and experience to perform the duties of the Assistant Fire Chief. <br />
