CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2006 - 127 <br />By: Mayor O'Grady <br />A RESOL UTION A UTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF LA W TO APPL Y TO <br />CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY FOR A FEDERAL WORK-STUDY <br />AWARD FOR PAYMENT OF A PORTION OF THE COMPENSATION OF <br />THE CITY'S LAW CLERKS FOR THE PERIOD 2006-2007, AUTHORIZING <br />THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH CLEVELAND STATE <br />UNIVERSITY REGARDING THE SAME, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, the Director of Law has requested authorization to apply to Cleveland State <br />University to participate in a federal work study program that would pay One Hundred (100%) <br />percent of the amount of grant that the students would qualify for during the period 2006-2007; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has previously authorized participation in this Grant Program <br />far the years 2003 through 2006; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of this Council to so authorize the Director of law, and to <br />further authorize the Mayor to execute an agreement with Cleveland State University providing <br />for the terms and conditions of participation in said program for the period 2006-2007; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA, AND STATE OF OHIO: <br />SECTION 1: That the Director of Law be and he hereby is authorized to apply to <br />Cleveland State University to participate in a federal work study program that would provide an <br />award for payment for each of the City's law clerks during the period 2006-2007, and further that <br />the Mayor be and he hereby is authorized to execute a contract with Cleveland State University <br />providing for the terms and conditions of the City's participation in said program. The contract <br />shall be substantially in the form of the "Federal Community Service Learning Program <br />Agreement" attached to this Ordinance as Exhibit A. <br />SECTION 2: That this Resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, and further <br />for the reason that it is necessary that this Resolution go into effect immediately due to <br />the need to hire two (2) new law clerks in the Law Department and to be able to continue to <br />receive funds; further provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members of <br />Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its passage and approval by the <br />Mayor.
