Section 4.. APPLICATION CF hSGLLATIONS: <br />(a) Hexeafter no land shall be used or occupied, and no building or struc- <br />ture shall be erected, altered, used or occupied, except in conformity with the <br />regulations herein established for the district in which such land., building or <br />structure is located. <br />(b) In cases of mixed occupancy the regulations for each use sha11 apply <br />to the portion of the building or land so used. <br />Section 5, DEFINITIONS. For the purpose of this ordinance, certain <br />terms and words are herein defined. :rords used in the present tense include the <br />futuxe; the singular number includes the plural and the plural, the si.ngular; the <br />wnrd.s "used for" include the meaning "designed for"; the word ''structure" includes <br />the word 11buildingo" <br />ALLEY -- Anyy roadway or public way dedicated to public use and twenty <br />(20) feet or less in w:idth. <br />Cr'RTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY -- A statement, signed by the Aclministrative <br />Officer, setting forth either that a building or structure complies with the ZonT <br />ing Ordinanee or that a building, structure or parcel of land may lawfully be em- <br />p loyed for specific uses, or both. <br />COURT -- An open unoccupied space, other than a yard, on the same lot <br />wi.tih a building, unobstructed from the lowest lev:;]_ to the sky. <br />OUTER COURT --- A court extending to a street or alley or to a front <br />or rear yardo <br />I:?TNER COI3RT -- H court not F:xtending to a street or alley or to a front <br />or rear yard, <br />WIDTH GF COUIiT -- Tl:e l?as; horizontal dimer_sion of a court at its low • <br />est levelo <br />CURB LEVEL -- The elevation of the tQp of t;ze curb or the established <br />curb grade opposite the center of the builcling or portion thereof under considerar- <br />tion. tiahere no curb level ha.s been established, the elevation of the ground at <br />the center of the traveled por;ion of the street in front thercof, shall be con- <br />sidered the equivalent of the curb level and where the building does not adjoin <br />the street the average elevatior_ of the proposed grade line of the ground i.rcunedi- <br />ately adjacent to the bui?dir.g as shov?m on the building plans shall be considered <br />as thaa curb level. <br />DWEIS,INGS : <br />ONE-FAM.ILY DtiELLING -- A separate, detached building designed for and <br />occupied exclusively as a residence for one family. <br />YX-FAMILY DZFELLING -- A separate, d etached building designed for or oc- <br />cupied exclusively as a residence for two fa.milies.
