~~ <br />f, <br />~, <br />- n~ <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED <br />RESOLUTION NO. 94-179 <br />BY: MAYOR ED BOYLE AND WARD 3 COUNCILMAN GEORGE NASHAR <br />A RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE GENERAL MOTORS PLANT IN <br />PARMA AND UAW LOCAL 1005 ON THE RECEIPT OF THE <br />NATIONAL REHABILITATION ASSOCIATION'S ORGANIZATIONAL <br />AWARD, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br />WHEREAS, The National Rehabilitation Association presents an award <br />annually to an organization with an outstanding record of service to persons with <br />disabilities; and <br />WHEREAS, This year's award was bestowed upon the General Motors <br />Plant in Parma and the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and <br />Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAVI~ Local 1005; and <br />WHEREAS, Sparked by an idea presented during contract negotiations, <br />the "Transitional Work Center" TWC was established in June, 1991 and has <br />served more than 540 people with disabilities and placed 531 of the individuals <br />back into full time competitive employment; and <br />WHEREAS, This program assists employees faced with both temporary <br />and permanent disabilities bringing the former back to their jobs and the latter to <br />jobs that meet their abilities and expertise; and <br />WHEREAS, This is the third honor this partnership has received and is <br />one which instills great pride in its recipients since it is an award for both the <br />private and public sectors. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF NORTH OLMSTED, COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br />Section 1: That this Council extends its heartiest of congratulations to the <br />General Motors Plant in Parma and to UAW Local 1005 for the receipt of this <br />prestigious award. <br />
